A local Authority based in the Chester area is currently looking to recruit an Application Services Officer to join their team.

Main duties:

1. Deliver practical and innovative ICT solutions and services to meet customers' business requirements, working as part of the Application Support Team to develop, test and implement technical solutions across a wide variety of systems and applications operated by CEC and CWAC, their ASDVs, Schools and Academies, and all other clients.
2. Undertake the full range of application support activities, including systems analysis, development, up-grade and implementation, incident and problem management and supplier liaison.
3. Support senior officers in end to end system development life cycle activities, from requirement gathering, system analysis, design, configuration, integration, development, testing, deployment, to post go live support.
4. Provide professional technical advice and guidance to clients and colleagues - ensuring the highest standards of customer service at all times.
5. Produce and maintain accurate records of all work undertaken, including updating relevant project documentation and metrics information, in accordance with service policies and procedures.
6. Supervise junior staff through matrix management, ensuring that all work allocated to junior staff is delivered to defined standards of quality and within agreed timescales and budgets, and identify the training and development needs of junior staff and feeding these requirements into planning for departmental training accordingly.
7. Encourage the development and sharing of knowledge, skills and expertise across the Applications Team and all other ICT teams, ensuring that best practice and specialist skills are developed and maintained, and learning is effectively stored and shared across teams to ensure the most effective services delivery.
8. Participate in the activities of the ICT Service and contribute to the development and delivery of ICT strategies and plans in order to drive improved business performance. Identify the opportunities for service improvement/cost savings, including providing challenges to existing working practices which enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the ICT Service
