We are currently recruiting on behalf of our manufacturing client for a Technical Buyer on a permanant basis.

You will have overall responsibility for sourcing raw material or components for new products as well as managing purchasing activities of existing products for the company manufacturing facility. This position has a specific focus on identifying new potential suppliers and developing new products.

Knowledge of electrical/mechanical industries is essential for this role.

Responsibilities for the Technical Buyer
• Auditing purchase demands to ensure best cost/value purchase options for the company.
• Ability to work as a trusted team member using own initiative to develop the supply chain.
• As required, support new projects through accurate cost estimation of new components and willing to be held accountable to those estimates
• Generation of RFQ / RFP Packages for the selected supplier bid process.
• To negotiate and obtain the best market condition or commercial agreement for component procurement.
• Provide support to engineers to evaluate feasibility of engineering changes and provide time, material, and labor breakdown info when needed.
• Lead purchasing projects that impact multiple company Facilities.
• Identify cost reduction activities from the beginning of the product design stage, through the production life of the product.

Requirements for the Technical Buyer
• Technical (Engineering) College Degree or Equivalent combination of Education and Experience
• 3-5 years minimum in purchasing program management or in a purchasing role with a heavy emphasis on technical component and material procurement
• Demonstrable organizational skills to manage complex assemblies, timelines
• Cost breakdown analysis.
• Technical understanding of electronic components and process.
• Capable of influencing internal decision makers to make decisions aligned with strategies and objectives benefiting the entire organization.
