We are now looking for a Strategic Buyer – Indirect Purchasing to be based in our Halesowen site and supporting both, Coventry and Neath (South Wales) sites with their indirect purchasing activities. You will develop, implement and manage the key initiatives to support the strategic objectives of the Indirect Purchasing Organisation. The successful candidate will work closely with site management and key stakeholders in order to identify cost savings and value added projects for purchased products and services for both sites. Close collaboration with the UK Indirect Purchasing team will also be crucial in order to maintain and build on existing UK wide group agreements by utilising volume and spend leverage through effective demand aggregation and synergies.

Job Summary

You will develop and implement sourcing strategies that are aligned with organizational objectives to enhance, develop and influence the business. You will deliver value through analytical and commercial focus in strategic sourcing and procurement and provide timely and effective support and expertise to stakeholders, taking responsibility for results. You will negotiate contracts and prices for indirect spend within Coventry and Neath and maximize any group deals with the aim to bring in best practice, price and savings. You will support peers, lead national project teams and represent the UK businesses in international procurement projects. You will integrate live supplier and indirect contracts on both sites, and where possible bundle together so we have group contracts. You will strategically source indirect spend categories to ensure cost effectiveness and performance standards and provide accurate costing's related information where required. You will undertake specific procurement related projects to drive down prices and ensure maximum value and terms. You will manage vendor contracts and commercial relations, ensuring that Sandvik achieves its goals and revenue targets and ensure that vendors comply with the Sandvik supplier code of conduct, whilst continuously driving vendor improvements. You will track and report savings, benefits and internal compliance.

Your profile

You will have a third level qualification or previous relevant experience in purchasing/sourcing. You will have experience of negotiating and interacting with suppliers and be able to build strong relationships and effectively manage stakeholder and supplier communications. You will be able to execute projects in an efficient and timely manner with your strong planning and communication skills and be able to work flexibly to meet deadlines. You will be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs. Membership of Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply and experience in a similar industry would be an advantage. Regular travel between sites is required and therefore a full, clean driving license will be essential for this role.
