SMH Fleet Solutions are a privately owned and reputable business that specialise in the Automotive Industry. Working on behalf of credible manufacturers and blue chip clients, we are responsible for fleet management, logistical transportation and high quality refurbishment.

As a result of unprecedented expansion, we are looking to hire a Production Manager to oversee a small yet busy team of operatives based in Colchester. The successful candidate must have experience managing within a bodyshop setting and should have a solid working knowledge of vehicle refurbishment/body repair processes and vehicle safety procedures.

Your main responsibilities will include:
• Oversee the production process to ensure it operates with optimum efficiency within a culture of continuous improvement
• Manage the production process to ensure vehicles remain on schedule and stay on track of customer KPI's
• To monitor and maintain staffing levels to ensure maximum output of work, including managing holidays, return to work interviews and agency staff
• Ensure team members use in-house electronic management system to accurately record all work assigned
• Monitor processes and liaise with departments or team members to discuss and implement process changes
• Stock control and management
• Produce Audatex estimate requests in a timely manner
• Final Quality Check and sign off of vehicles
• Be responsible for identifying, selecting, recording and maintaining equipment along with overseeing a preventative maintenance program
• Ensure accurate recording of Rectifications and Q.C. Fails
• Ensure and enforce compliance with all Company policies, health and safety requirements and legislation including hazardous waste disposal
• To check and record daily Olfactory Emissions
• Report any deterioration in health or vision to your Manager without delay

The ideal candidate will possess:
• Relevant qualification i.e. ATA, BTEC, NVQ, City & Guilds and/or a minimum of three years' experience in a similar role
• Previous experience of using Audatex to produce estimates
• Willingness to travel to other Company sites as requested (Driving licence mandatory)

This is a challenging and demanding role that calls for a variety of skill bases, subsequently; we are looking for someone who is able to ensure optimum efficiency through the use of strong people management, and the ability to monitor the production process enabling the implementation of new/amended processes to ensure SMH keep their market leading status.

We are offering a competitive salary depending on experience, accompanied with 30 days holiday inclusive of bank holidays, free onsite parking and a pension contribution after a qualifying period.
