Our client is a large, and growing, specialist land-based College, with centres throughout Yorkshire, Cumbria and the Tees Valley.

They now have an opportunity available for a Student Finance and Welfare Officer to join them to act as the first point of contact for students; developing and maintaining efficient systems for the accurate recording of the distribution of Learner Support Funds and other available welfare.

Providing accurate information and advice to students, prospective students and staff on the support services (offering welfare support or referring as appropriate), you must annually review, consult on and update the student financial support policy and provide advice on student eligibility and research welfare support available to the College to ensure the provision of up to date information.

Advising on scholarships and assessing entitlement, you will process all College Bursary, discretionary Learning Support Fund and other relevant application forms accordingly and notify students of entitlement.  Setting up and using spreadsheets and relevant software to record and monitor allocations made from the various Student Support funds the College has access to, you must maintain student records and process absence forms and register amendments for both College Bursary and discretionary Learning Support Fund.

With substantial experience of setting up and maintaining a web-based database and/or an electronic record keeping system, within a busy office environment, you should have the ability to work well independently and within a team and be capable of using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Access programmes.  A background of working in an educational environment is essential and you must be able to prioritise your workload, set up and maintain electronic records and analyse data and produce reports from that data.  An understanding of student finances would be desirable.
