Our client based in Radstock is a fast-growing, complicated, small company, which uses an infrastructure of computerised systems and websites as key resources.

They are looking for a Webmaster to join their team to be responsible for website thought leadership, managing, optimising and maintaining multiple websites; providing performance analysis and network and website security. There is a multi-disciplinary, team approach to running and developing the business as processes often span several functional areas.

The company has several Wordpress websites that are a mix of e-commerce and information/web-presence sites. Currently, these are managed externally and the main purpose of this role is to bring that management in-house. This is a new position with a broad remit and potential for career growth within an expanding business.

Key Responsibilities:

Inbound, web generated enquiries are the most productive source of enquiries for this business, so it is imperative that the sites are properly and effectively managed. The Webmaster will be responsible maintaining and analysing their performance, recommending and overseeing improvements and reviewing the user experience.

Website Strategy & Capability

*Providing the thought leadership to the business on websites.
*Contributing the website consideration and application to business planning to achieve business growth.
*Taking responsibility for the website capability of the business.

Website Optimisation

*Setting-up and using website management tools such as Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager to provide analytical data on website performance.
*Working together with the Marketing Manager and accounts team to analyse website data, generate insights into website performance and to provide actionable information.
*Optimisation of websites to drive web traffic, to generate enquiries and to maximise conversion within on-line shops.

Website Management and Maintenance

Managing all website activity including:

*Website maintenance.
*Maintenance of functionality together with content integrity.
*Content management for SEO compliance.
*Regular management and updating of website plug-ins as required.
*Monitoring uptime and investigating downtime occurrences.
*Setting-up and checking of back-up and restore routines.
*Maintaining website security to minimise the risk of cyber-attacks.
*Reviewing and evaluating the hosting environments
*Conducting random audits of live site content.
*Code version control and storage

Cyber Security

Managing cyber-security measures proactively to protect websites and internal infrastructure such as the internal file and exchange server.

User Experience

One of the websites is an e-commerce site for a cloud-based system that needs to encourage products and systems to be bought off the page. The ease with which browsers can navigate the site, find the appropriate information and feel confident that the system will deliver has a direct impact the quantity of zero touch sales. The Webmaster needs to be able to review and recommend improvements to the UX in conjunction with the Marketing team.

E-commerce Shop Management

Setting-up and maintaining website shops including providing performance and availability reports and analysis. Setting up and monitoring the shop performance and automating reports for sales made and stock used for stock control and accounting data purposes.

ISS Security

As part of the portfolio, there is a requirement to open up and configure ISS on customer's servers. It would be useful if the Webmaster could work with the Operations team to ensure that this is done in secure manner for the customers that require it.

The Candidate:

Education: Degree level or equivalent in IT or Web Design

Experience:
*3-5 years' experience in website management.
*Advanced experience in website content design.
*Experience in custom coding of Wordpress plug-ins, CSS, (X) HTML.
*Familiarity in browser testing and debugging.
*Knowledge in website security, back-up routines and maintenance.

Competencies:

Planning/Organisation - The Webmaster must be able to prioritise work and activity, organise and schedule other people and their tasks and develop realistic project/action plans. End of month routines also need to be established and adhered to.

Initiative - Make suggestions and/or take actions to reduce or mitigate risk. Asks for assistance when required. Able to contribute positively to related topics which fall outside the jobholder's remit.

Report - Information such as optimisation analysis, website security, uptime and performance needs to be collated and reported to the senior management team on monthly basis.
