Who will I be working with?

Autoproducts is a family-run business supplying workshop consumables to the motor trade since 1973. With an excellent reputation in the industry for delivering high standards of service, Autoproducts has established itself as one of the leading suppliers of service protection to the automotive industry, and is an approved supplier to a number of motor manufacturers and dealerships including; Jaguar Land Rover, Porsche, Aston Martin, Mercedes-Benz and Bentley Motors to name but a few. Due to exciting growth plans a role has been created for a Product Development Assistant, to become part of the friendly and professional team.

So, what will the role of Product Development Assistant entail?

As Product Development Assistant you’ll assist the Sales Director with the design and development of protective vehicle covers and work closely with the internal Sewing Team to manufacture the final product. Your responsibilities and duties will include, although not be limited to;

  • Attending customer sites across the UK (initially with the Sales Director), in relation to the design and development of new products 
  • Designing products from customer specification
  • Sewing Nylon and PVC vehicle protection products using a PFAFF heavy duty walking-foot machine  
  • Ensuring product quality control is of the highest standard
  • Packing and cutting where support required
  • Other tasks as the business requires

Important: This role features frequent travel to customer sites across the UK with regular overnight stays, often for several days at a time.

What will I need to be considered for this Product Development Assistant vacancy?

  • A creative background in either product development or studying textiles, design technology or similar
  • Smart and professional appearance
  • Confident and friendly manner with excellent customer service skills
  • High level of attention to detail  
  • A positive and enthusiastic attitude, along with self-motivation
  • Good standard of literacy and numeracy skills
  • Computer literacy with timely and accurate data entry skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Flexibility towards tasks and working hours
  • Full driving licence

Experience using industrial sewing machines is highly advantageous although not essential, however you must be willing to learn.

Starting Salary: From £18,000, potentially negotiable dependent on level of experience

Hours: Full time, 8am – 5pm Monday to Friday. Flexibility will be required to meet client needs.
