Monmouth Scientific Ltd has a unique opportunity available for an Office General Assistant to join the team in Bridgwater. The role is a full time, permanent position offering a competitive salary.

Monmouth Scientific Limited was established in 2004 and has been expanding rapidly ever since.  We have a very diverse but niche range of products covering a variety of disciplines and technologies, including Fume Containment, Clean Air and bespoke Air Handling systems, as well as Biological Containment Systems. 

We carry out servicing, repair and calibration of Air Handling Equipment all over the UK and ROI, and we are now regarded as one of the leading suppliers and manufacturers of Fume Cabinets and Clean Air solutions, not only in the UK, but increasingly more further afield in Europe, Africa, The Middle East and Australasia.

What are the responsibilities of the Office General Assistant?

- To provide efficient and professional support to the Company at all times

- To be the first point of contact for general telephone enquiries

- To transfer or re-direct Customers to the relevant members of staff or to our website, and ensure that any messages left are communicated to the relevant employee in an appropriate way

- To follow up requests from Customers for information to be sent if required

- To assist with greeting visitors or clients in reception and directing them to the correct staff member

- To assist with general office duties and daily activities, such as filing, photocopying and shredding confidential waste

- To cover additional duties in the absence of other members of the team, to ensure the smooth running of the office

- To add information on new units manufactured and delivered to customers to the service database, ensuring that new paperwork is placed into folders and filed

- To add information to service database where existing units have been by Monmouth engineers

- To file all Service Reports and associated paperwork into Customer folders

- To assist in the maintenance of our Database, keeping records up-to-date, assisting with mail shots and merging information as required

- To fully organise and maintain all such paper and electronic files

- To keep an accurate record of supplies, equipment and stationery to ensure adequate supply at all times

- To deal with both outgoing post each evening and open and distribute incoming post each day

- To maintain office filing and storage systems, using scanner and copier when necessary

- To assist various Departments with filing duties ongoing, and to cover holidays

What do we look for in an Office General Assistant?

This new role will be extremely varied and offer an excellent challenge to the right candidate.  The position will involve regular customer contact over the telephone, via letters and email and all other duties associated with a busy office environment. It is important that the candidate is presentable, articulate and is fully computer literate. Experience of WORD, EXCEL and OUTLOOK is essential with experience of SAGE an advantage. We would expect our Office General Assistant to have at least “C” Grades at GCSE level (or equivalent) in both English and Mathematics, excellent organisational skills, and be able to work accurately and efficiently under pressure.
