Role Overview.
Our client is an established, well-funded and award-winning fintech startup that provides cash-flow and alternative finance solutions to UK SMEs. In our current period of growth we are looking for a Design Lead who will shape the evolution of our products and services, and report into the CEO.
We are looking for a self-sufficient leader with demonstrable experience in product, user experience, interaction and visual design. You will work closely and frequently with colleagues from varying disciplines (technology, operations, strategy, risk, marketing and sales) to understand what matters to our users and to our business, and conceptualise and implement effective and thoughtful design solutions.
This is an opportunity to design digital products in a supportive, committed and passionate environment. You will have the freedom to make your mark and the responsibility to ensure that we are delivering exceptional user experiences.

Key Responsibilities.
Ownership of all design-related activities across the company
Develop and maintain our design standards and guidelines
Collaboration with colleagues in leadership, technology, sales, marketing, service, risk and collections to ensure our customers always have a holistic, consistent experience
Understand our products, market, business and technical strategies as the background to working on product requirements
Creation of user-centric wireframes, rapid prototypes and complete user interface designs
Bonus points: if you can implement your designs as web components (JSX or HTML/CSS) then you’ll really have our attention!

Desired Skills.
Demonstrable experience working in roles requiring each of: user experience design, product design, interaction design and visual design
Ability to work quickly and efficiently to gather and distil complex requirements
Comfortable with the Agile methodology and iterative development
Conducting (or at least observing) UX insight activities such as user research, ideation sessions, usability testing and stakeholder interviews
Excellent written and verbal skills to communicate design concepts at all levels
Capable of working with and giving direction to external agencies and suppliers
UI development experience - one or more of: HTML, CSS (LESS, SASS), JSX
