Warehouse Operative - MUST HAVE FORKLIFT COUNTERBALANCE QUALIFICATION

Qualifications Required

You MUST have a current qualification to operate a Forklift Truck. This needs to be FLT certification for Counterbalance. Please do not apply for the position unless you have this qualification

Who are we looking for?

This is warehouse work so you will need to be physically fit and healthy. You would be picking orders on a daily basis for deliveries we make the next day on our own fleet of transport. We employ all our own drivers and have all our own trucks so we handle all our transport internally - this gives us control to offer a premium service to our customers, many of whom are repeat loyal customers of many years. You will need to have the aptitude to work alone picking orders, as well as a polite and pleasant way as you will also be serving customers on a daily basis. We pride ourselves on the level of service and advice we are able to offer our customers

Who are we?

We are a family business and were established in 1952. Having grown over the years we are still however a family business where staff and colleagues are a name and not a number. We are based in Croydon, South London on the Mitcham borders and this is where you would be based daily.

When are we open?

We are open for business 6 days a week. Monday to Friday 7am to 5pm and on Saturdays we are open from 8am to Midday, with a reduced staffing level. We are always closed on Sundays. We are always closed over the Christmas Period in line with the rest of the building trade. All working hours are daytime sociable hours

What do we do?

We are a company that specialises in wood based sheet materials, in particular decorative sheet materials. The bulk of the items that we sell are in “8 x 4” size boards or larger. We are the largest specialist importer & distributor of boards in south London, and we sell to all types….. from one off boards to the public to multiple pallets to merchants and large joinery companies

What Experience is needed?

You'll need previous experience of working in a warehouse environment. You will need the Qualifications Required (see below) in terms of FLT Counter & Reach Certification. Experience of the building trade is ideal, especially if you have worked at a Timber Merchant, Builders Merchant Hardware or DIY type setup in the past. To sum up, knowledge of the Building Trade is a benefit all round.

Other Beneficial Qualifications

Any applicant who has a valid UK LGV2 Category C Driving Licence, Driver Card & and up to date CPC will be given immediate priority in the application process. This is because we would be able to utilise your abilities to cover any leave taken by other drivers. The role is primarily warehouse based however we ask all our staff to multi task when needed. We operate vehicles ranging from 12t curtain side box trucks to 18t rigid flat bed trucks.

What are we offering?

We are offering a Full Time Permanent position in our company. Working 7am to 5pm daily and alternate 4 hour Saturday shifts from 8am to Midday only (so the half day Saturdays are bi-weekly).
