As an Operational Buyer you will be fundamental to our ability to deliver to our customers and clients. Our customer expectations are high, as such we are looking for adaptive driven people to deliver on time to required quality.
You will possess creative problem-solving skills in a team environment and comfortable with communicating clearly and efficiently throughout varying levels of both the customer and Altran businesses. Due to the nature of the assignments undertaken by Altran you will work in an environment that promotes autonomy and initiative, requiring a flexible attitude. Above all you will have a desire to progress.
Responsibilities:
- Supplier selection and management of sub-contracted work packages.
- Development of a competitive flexible supplier base, focusing on year on year cost reduction, specifically on aluminium material cost saving opportunities from a technical point of view.
- Understanding and interpreting engineering requirements, including quality, delivery, specifications and price and ensuring that these requirements are understood and reflected throughout the procurement cycle.
- Ensuring that all enquiries are sent out in a professional and timely manner to establish the most competitive sources to support the bid management process.
- Support to negotiation of contracts, providing the technical inputs from Manufacturing Engineering point of view, specifically on material savings and costs.
- Prevention of critical supply issues through best practice supply chain management techniques.
- Pursuing Lean, inventory and consignment initiatives within the supply chain.
- To encourage communication between the supplier and engineering to effect cost reduction of mature and new products
- Liaise with key stakeholders to formulate 'make or buy decisions'
- To manage on time delivery from the supply base and expedite Purchase Orders as required
- Carry out site visits to suppliers as necessary
Qualifications and Experience:
- Previous experience in a similar role for 5 years.
- Experience within a manufacturing environment is essential.
- CIPS qualification or equivalent is desirable
- Experience in manufacturing processes in machining environment
- Aerospace experience is desirable
- Working experience of knowledge of lean implementation
