Our client is recruiting for two of their short breaks services in Cheadle and Romiley. The respite services cater for children and young people who have Autistic spectrum conditions, physical disabilities, complex health needs and learning disabilities. They provide a secure, well-equipped outdoor play areas, sensory/low stimulus rooms, very pleasant communal living and areas where young people are encouraged to develop their life skills. They offer a ‘home from home’ experience.

Their accredited shared care provision for young people with autism and associated behaviours in North West England children and young people can spend over 75 nights per year in placement and the remaining time with parents/carers in their family home.  Applications are therefore welcomed from experienced Residential Children's Care Workers with proven ability to support young people with Autistic Spectrum Conditions and Challenging Behaviour. You will work as part of an enthusiastic team of RSCW’s providing a safe, caring and accepting environment with direction and support to their children and young people.

Essential Job Requirements

  • Ability to work alongside staff teams to provide a high level of care.
  • Provide a safe environment for the young people in our care.
  • Ensure record keeping and administrative duties are met including care plans and all relevant paperwork is updated.
  • Be flexible and able to undertake shift work including weekends (care is 24/7).
  • Proactiveness to undertake all additional duties including cleaning, laundry, preparing for the next day.

Desirable Attributes

  • Knowledge of current legislation.
  • Diploma Level 3 qualified in Children and Young Person’s Workforce, Social Work Degree or equivalent, or the willingness to work towards.
  • Experience of Ofsted inspections.
  • Understanding of attachment and trauma in relation to young people.

Their services are 24/7, therefore, they need their staff to be flexible Monday to Sunday.
