Whistlefish, a leading web design agency, currently seeks a talented Web Designer / Front-end Developer who is passionate about creating visually stunning and well-functioning websites.

Based in the heart of Coventry, Whistlefish is part of a B2B managed IT support provider, Maple IT Systems. With over 25 years’ experience we have been responsible for producing a vast range of designs through the delivery of both e-commerce and content managed websites across the UK. As well as web design we are also able to develop and create innovative designs for exhibition stands, business cards, leaflets, brochures, posters and so much more offering our customers a variety of print and paper quality of the highest standards.

As a vital member of the design team you will work closely with the sales and marketing team and be responsible for the creative design, layout and front end coding of customer websites by establishing the purpose and objectives upon its target audience. You should have the ability to facilitate and drive design-related client meetings and discussions, identifying the type of content, functionality the site must support for information and transactions whilst providing guidance on layout, colours and style trends. A regular part of the role will also be the maintenance and management of existing customer websites. A basic working knowledge of SEO, rankings and W3C Standards is preferred together with a strong portfolio of web design work.

An ideal candidate should have the following skill sets:

•    Minimum of 2 years’ experience within design and front end development and a good working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop
•    Must have proven track record of designing well thought out website designs with good UX in mind
•    Proven experience coding fully responsive websites with HTML5 andCSS3
•    JavaScript and jQuery experience is desirable
•    Knowledge of Drupal is desirable but not essential
•    Strong attention to detail with excellent visual and presentation skills
•    Strong typography, colour and layout skills
•    Good interpersonal and communication skills
•    Ability to facilitate and drive design-related client meetings and discussions
•    Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
•    Ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment
•    Good time management and project management skills with the ability to work to tight deadlines managing multiple projects simultaneously
•    Self-motivated, able to work with little supervision
•    Be adaptable and have the ability to pick up new techniques
•    Keep up to date with latest web design trends and advances in computer technology
•    Good organisation skills with the ability to schedule your working week
•    Ability to identify business opportunities and assist with web related sales activities

Salary: £21,000 - £26,000 (Depending on Experience)
