Our client provides industry leading technology solutions to manufacturing businesses across the world. They are now looking for a Chemist to join their team and become an integral part of an established and growing global organisation.
This position is for a chemist working within a small team providing resource to aid in the formulation, product development & maintenance of the current ink range. This position also requires that a proportion of time is spent supporting internal and external customers on technical, regulatory and health and safety enquiries as well as general lab maintenance.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Understand ink jet printers and their interactions with inks
- Become knowledgeable about current and new raw materials including liaising with suppliers
- Plan, lead and execute development projects and investigations including wet chemistry, printer trials and internal release activities
- Use data to make effective decisions in line with company priorities
- Problem solve effectively with cross functional teams to bring projects to completion
- Actively support the continuous improvement environment
- Provide technical and regulatory support to internal and external customers
Person Specification:
With a MSc/BSc or equivalent in Chemistry, Polymer Science or related degree. You will be a competent scientist with basic industrial development experience, with general laboratory and chemical skills ideally with the formulation of inks and coatings. As a confident and motivated individual, you will be able to work productively in both individual and team situations to solve problems, build relationships and complete projects.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Professional membership (RSC, IoP, IoM3)
- Excellent communication and presentation skills - verbal and written
- Ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment
- Creativity and the ability to use initiative for independent work
- Problem solving skills
- Effective team working and communication skills
- Strong interest in Engineering
- Competent user of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Power-point
- Understanding of dispersion systems
- Knowledge of surface coatings
Work Environment:
This role is primarily lab based, although some desk based worked is required when conducting research and preparing project releases. You will be required to travel occasionally (average once a quarter) to other company sites and to visit customers, this could be internationally.
