Job Title: Plant Area Manager

Location: Tamworth, B78

Salary: Competitive

Our client is a family owned & run Garden Centre and has been trading since around 1990. They are currently recruiting for a Plant Area Manager to join their team.

Job Objectives:

The effective managing of the plant area sales department, seeking to enhance the centres position as one of the leading garden centres in the country.

The primary function is to maximise sales by motivating, leading and developing the team to develop the plant sales area with trend setting and innovative displays and creating a dynamic feel, which is infectious to gardeners. This will coincide with ensuring that we offer the highest quality standards and advice to our customers need and demand. To develop and nurture the plant sales team using existing resources. To achieve sales budget and targets set annually.

Role:

Staff:

  • The welfare and morale of the whole team.
  • To ensure discipline and standards of the team, including presentation is maintained, and any issues are referred to the centre manager.
  • Regular monitoring of rotas and daily tasks, delegated fairly and effectively to the staff.
  • To ensure adequate staffing to get all tasks achieved.
  • Motivation and leading by example setting the highest standards of personal performance.
  • All systems carried out as per instructions.
  • To train and develop all members of the team.

Sales and Merchandising:

  • To have stock presented in a suitable or attractive way to maximise sales.
  • For all stock to be 'shopable' and clearly and correctly priced.
  • To have as many 'linked' sales as possible with other products or departments.
  • To have staff available for advice.
  • All displays to be regularly maintained.
  • To make sure all signage and Point of sale is in place and correct.
  • To plan ahead for future promotions.
  • Plan ahead for effective use of promotional locations.

Stock:

  • To monitor stock and sales levels to achieve 'Right stock, Right Time'.
  • To ensure appropriate margins are achieved.
  • To maintain accurate stock inventory.
  • To ensure all company stock management procedures are adhered too and managed effectively.
  • To act on slow moving lines and ensure stock levels are maintained with agreement of the centre manager
  • To carry adequate stock for expected sales, and that a high quality is achieved.
  • To check stock is priced correctly and clearly.
  • To control wastage within acceptable limits.
  • To ensure suppliers are notified of poor quality or shortages of stock and credit requests are placed.
  • All stock that is not displayed is stored and maintained correctly.

Administration:

  • To make sure wastage records are accurate and up to date.
  • To make sure customer orders are fulfilled and the paper work is accessible for all staff to find.
  • To make sure all paperwork is keep safe, up to date and not left in public view.

Health and Safety:

  • To ensure all company health and safety policies are carried out and report any situations to the general manager.

Shift Patterns:

  • The shift patterns are:

8.45 am - 6 pm Monday to Saturday (8am when opening manager)
9.30 am - 5.00 pm Sunday
10.30 am - 8.00 pm Late Night Thursdays

  • Employees have one day off in the week and work alternate weekends.
  • Managers are expected to work one late night a month.
  • All employees are expected to work Bank Holidays unless otherwise informed.
  • There is a holiday entitlement of 5.6 weeks pro rata.
