Trainee Solicitor / Business Development Role. Chester, 20k-25k basic D.O.E + commission, OTE £35k+

The Role

Our client's busy Business Development and Regulatory Department within a Legal 500 recognised law firm (Transport & Environmental) is recruiting a Trainee Solicitor or similar to join the expanding team. This opportunity is open to applicants with or without a GDL/ LPC qualification who aspire to progress their legal careers.

The envisaged role is split between business development and hands on legal work.

Business Development

They are a niche firm servicing commercial clients within their specialist sectors of expertise. The successful applicant (you) will actively introduce their services to prospective clients through direct calls, incoming enquiries, marketing, seminars and public presentations. You will immerse yourself into their key niche markets, develop deep industry knowledge and form relationships with decision makers to identify need. You will as part of a team develop and communicate solutions to service such identified need.

Training Contract

Upon winning a new client you will prepare the full case notes for the legal team with which you will work closely seeing these highly-specialised cases through to conclusion. Your responsibilities may include but will not be limited to meeting with clients to take proofs of evidence, collecting evidence, drafting submissions and potentially undertaking advocacy in tribunals.

The team you will be joining has an enviable reputation in its specialist fields. They are recognised by Legal 500 for transport law and environmental law as ‘true experts'.

Progression

This role comes with a basic salary and very generous uncapped commission. It is easily within the right candidate's grasp to become one the best paid trainee solicitors in the UK. Should the new recruit require sponsorship for the GDL/LPC this may be provided in lieu of bonus, dependent upon performance.

Upon completion of your Training Contract and on qualification as a Solicitor it is their view that the Newly Qualified Solicitor will become a key part of the team of Solicitors, will have already started to entrench their practice within one or more of our niche areas and probably have the beginnings of their very own specialism.

They don't wait for their Trainees to claw their way up a ladder over time. They give them the help, support and freedom they need to let their ability and passion take them to success.

The Firm

The company is a niche law firm specialising in Transport, Environmental and Health & Safety Law. Senior solicitors are recognised as leaders in their field. The culture is open and friendly, the hierarchical structure is relatively flat so the views of all people at every level are appreciated. Whilst you will be subject to close supervision you will be given considerable responsibility and the opportunity to flourish from a very early point in time.
