IT Support Engineer

Our client has identified an excellent opportunity for a IT Support Engineer to join their team. Priding themselves on being honest, ethical and transparent, the company has gone from strength to strength over the last 10 years and is continuously growing.
You will be met with a fantastic package including flexible start time, pension and 25 days holiday.
Our client is a managed web hosting provider, with a speciality in building and maintaining clustered infrastructure for e-commerce stores. The role of their Support Engineers is to build, maintain and support the infrastructure and customer.
Position Summary
IT Support Engineers typically handle issues from start to finish – where on-the-job training and mentoring is provided to increase confidence and ability. For this reason, they do not classify the role as Level 1/2/3 support - but a blend of all three.
As an IT Support Engineer your role will involve:
• Answering both complex and simple support questions predominantly via ticket and occasionally by phone.
• Duties associated with “Managed web hosting”
• Building/configuring/adding infrastructure to stacks
• Onboarding new customers (site migration/cloning)
• Security patch application and forensic security audits
• Investigating server generated alerts/errors and ongoing maintenance
• Identifying server side issues from Magento store side issues
• Performance bottleneck analysis
What do you need?
The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience to hit the ground running including:
• Experience with Linux (Bash, Nginx, PHP-FPM, MySQL)
• Basic understanding of PHP
• Excellent written and verbal English
• Patience and an aptitude to help customers
• Calm under pressure
• Efficient at managing workload/prioritising tasks
• Flexible – is willing to work on call
Desirable skills
• Experience physically assembling computers/servers
• Debian/Ubuntu experience (maintaining, building packages etc.)
• Magento experience
• Good working knowledge of software used in MageStack
• Drivers licence
