Position: Surface Mount Technology (SMT) QA Inspector
Location: St Neots, Cambridgeshire

Our client is a vertically integrated provider of specialised electronics systems and components that meet the critical needs in the homeland security, healthcare, defence and aerospace industries. 

They focus on Electronics Manufacturing Services, and manufacture products for professional & technical clients within a variety of market sectors including broadcast, industrial, medical, security, agricultural and transport infrastructure. 

Their services range from PCB assembly right through to complete product build including full functional test.

Due to their continued growth, they now have a new opportunity for an SMT QA Inspector to join their successful team.

The Surface Mount Technology QA Inspector Role:
The primary purpose of this SMT QA Inspector role is to perform inspections, checks testing and sampling procedures for product manufacturing processes.

You will carry out packaging line, manufacturing inspections and sampling and testing of incoming components and raw materials to ensure that company standards are met.

The SMT QA Inspector will also monitor critical equipment and instrumentation.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Perform the inspection of conventional PCBs, cable-forms and complete products following the appropriate check lists
  • Inspect surface mount technology (SMT) PCBs to spot assembly build errors
  • Use inspection magnifier to inspect for soldering defects on SMT PCBs
  • Record all defects detected onto the Quality Database and record the defects attributed to assembly staff
  • Suggest improvements to the inspection process
  • Liaise with relevant department inspectors to report material problems to ensure that components and materials conform to the correct specifications
  • Ensure that work carried out is in accordance with the appropriate Works Instructions and quality standard
  • Undertake duties required in accordance with the surface mount inspection procedure

Experience & Attributes Required:

 

 

  • Proven experience within a similar role
  • Comfortable working in fast paced environment
  • Educated to a minimum of GCSE in Maths & English or equivalent 
  • Proven experience of MS Office & ERP systems 
  • Strong English written and oral skills
