The Investment Writing team is responsible for the production of regular investment commentary (monthly, quarterly and ad hoc)across Investec Asset Management’s full range of investment capabilities and strategies, as well as working to generate or edit copy for other documents such as thought leadership pieces, strategy updates, ESG reports and annual/biannual report and accounts. This involves working closely with multiple points of contact across the business, including portfolio managers, investment teams, client groups, client operations and marketing.

The candidate should demonstrate sound investment knowledge with a strong background in emerging market fixed income investments, including a good grasp of political and economic developments within these countries. He/she should have the ability to write new content or edit existing investment copy for a range of different audiences(institutional, financial advisers and direct investors).In addition, he/she should have extensive experience in relationship building, including working closely with portfolio managers.

 
Key responsibilities (to include but not limited to):

Writing, editing and proof reading investment commentary covering various financial periods as required. These typically describe the portfolio’s performance, the portfolio managers' rationale for investment decisions, portfolio positioning and the macroeconomic environment.

Work closely with the Portfolio Managers, Client Group and Risk & Performance to ensure the smooth implementation and timely production of investment commentary.

Contribute ideas for thought leadership content. Conduct own research into a particular topic of interest and present well-considered, structured articles.

Assist in the process of our regulatory reporting communication in the form of report & accounts, including writing and editing semi-annual and annual manager commentaries for an end-investor audience.


Ensure investment and strategy knowledge is currently attending relevant internal investment team meetings and keeping up to speed with industry news.


Being proactive in identifying current news stories or issues that could form the basis of updates for clients.

Meets client requirements and associated deadlines to ensure expectations are managed and achieved.

Contribute to ad hoc business projects and team projects.

 
Risk & Compliance Responsibilities

Ensuring any changes in job description in personal information or circumstances, any promotion, any exam or training courses are provided to HR.

Ensuring that all sales and marketing materials meet the FCA any other local regulators requirements for the country in which we are operating.


Ensure all documents produced by the Investment Writing team are reviewed by Marketing Compliance where relevant.

Technical & Industry experience
This is a specialist role and the successful candidate will possess strong investment knowledge, solid writing and editing skills, and interest in economics and the financial markets as well as excellent communication and relationship building skills.

At least three years’ industry experience within a similar role.

Excellent research and writing skills, experience of emerging market fixed income writing.

Demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail when writing/editing material.

Degree educated with an emphasis in communications, English, economics.


Ability to deliver high quality copy under pressure to tight deadlines.

Ability to judge the quality of draft commentaries, do factual checks and fill in any content gaps.

Ability to work with a number of different senior stakeholders across the business.

Compensation: £50,000 - £55,000 (base salary)
