Role Overview:

A suitable BI Cognos developer will be proficient with the Cognos 10 toolset, having a solid understanding of relational and dimensional reporting models. The person will be part of a small team responsible for implementing BI reporting solutions and framework / cube modelling to business requirement specifications.

Job Description:

• Develop simple and complex reports including list, crosstabs and charts with drill-thru capabilities
• Build dashboards using traditional and active reporting techniques
• Update and enhance existing framework manager & OLAP models
• Enhance existing reports based on new requirements
• Performance tuning of reports, models and infrastructure
• Assist in gathering requirements
• Interact with business sponsors to plan and scope timescales

Technical Requirements:

Cognos 10.2.2

Cognos BI (Experience in a professional software development capacity)

Able to develop and deliver static/active reports and dashboards.
Framework Modelling
Report Studio Writing – Standard and Active
Dashboards
Cubes

Experience of earlier versions beneficial – we have used 8 and 10.1

SQL Server

Versions - 2005, 2012, 2014
Excellent SQL skills essential (both interpreting and writing)
Management Studio – Tables, Queries, Views, Indexes
Integration Services - transferring data from other SQL servers

• Ability to perform data analysis and troubleshoot data integrity issues
