Are you an experienced and qualified HGV Mechanic/Technician that is looking to join a successful and expanding business?
Our client is a privately-owned Logistics company providing transport and warehousing solutions to a variety of companies in the UK. The company has been established for over 20 years and has expanded rapidly in recent years. It is due to this continued growth that they now need to recruit an additional HGV Mechanic/Technician.
Core hours you will be working are: 51 hours on weeks 1 & 3 and 45 hours on weeks 2 & 4. You will be expected to have a flexible approach to working overtime when required by the business.
Position Summary
As a HGV Mechanic/Technician you will be working on a modern fleet of vehicles and trailers. The vehicles are predominately Mercedes with the vehicles ranging from vans up to tractor units. Your key responsibilities will include:
• Ensuring that all company vehicles and trailers are inspected, serviced and maintained to comply with current legislation, manufacturer recommendations and that statutory "O" licence requirements are complied with
• Preparation and presentation of vehicles and trailers for annual MOT inspection
• Handling PMI’s and rectifying all repairs & defects
• Investigating and diagnosing faults using computer based diagnostic equipment
• Attending to breakdowns on the fleet as required (including out of hours)
• Completing all relevant paperwork and documentation to a high standard
• Ensuring all aspects of the clients Health & Safety working practices are adhered to including working to the company’s safe systems of work and risk assessments
About you
The successful candidate will have previous experience in a similar Mechanic role and must hold an industry recognised qualification such as an NVQ or C&G. They will have the following skills and experience to hit the ground running:
• A “can do” and a “right first time” ethos
• Work well as part of the maintenance team and able to work under own initiative when required
• Able to work to deadlines and manage a number of tasks at one time by prioritising workload
• Actively seek solutions to problems
• Work to high levels of accuracy and have good organisational skills
• Having a Class 1 (C & E) or Class 2 (C) Licence would be advantageous but is not essential
