LOCATION: Leeds, West Yorkshire

JOB TITLE: Creative Artwork Officer - part-time

SALARY & BENEFITS: GBP19,829 pro rata plus optional pension (GBP11,502 for 20 hours)

WORKING HOURS: flexible working (to include some hours on Thursdays and Fridays)

THE COMPANY: Our Client, a national charity based in Yeadon, West Yorkshire, fulfils a number of varied functions, including providing advice, information and support, producing publications, administering the database of our members, campaigning and lobbying relevant bodies, amongst other activities. To achieve this we rely heavily on income attained through fundraising and our expenditure is managed to support these activities

THE ROLE: Creative Artwork Officer - Leeds, West Yorkshire

Do you have good Creative Suite skills, a love of design and the ability to cope with a busy schedule of work? Epilepsy Action, the UK's leading national epilepsy charity, has a highly skilled and dedicated studio team, producing high quality artwork for every aspect of the charity's work. We are now looking for a third member of the team, to deal with growing demand.

This role sits within the Communications Department, which is key to the charity achieving its goals. As well as publications, the department is responsible for producing our range of magazines and journals, creating and maintaining our website, developing our digital and social media work, brand management and quality assurance, PR and campaigns, policy and public affairs.

You will be experienced in producing professional artwork ready for print, with an understanding of print industry processes. You will also be keen to produce graphics for digital use. From printed balloons to website banners, from information booklets to magazine adverts, our work is very varied so you need to be able to demonstrate a strong portfolio of work from previous roles.

This is a new role, resulting from a growth in demand for artwork. You will work with another Creative Artwork Officer and our Senior Design and Print Officer, within a busy and supportive communications department.

Key Responsibilities:- Creative Artwork Officer - Leeds, West Yorkshire
  • Supporting the senior design and print officer by producing artwork to the required standard, using agreed design elements within agreed deadlines
  • Maintaining all agreed templates and standard items to ensure that every item is up-to-date and reflective of current standards, within a regular timetable
  • Working to agreed briefs, using the provided tools and resources
  • Assisting the senior design and print officer to complete all artwork to agreed pre-press standards or digital publishing standards
  • Ensuring that all artwork conforms to in-house standards and other agreed standards and guidelines
  • Assisting the senior design and print officer in the timely progression of all work by chasing copy, dealing with printers and completing necessary administrative work, including maintaining the archive
  • Supporting the senior design and print officer by maintaining the integrity of the brand at all times and helping colleagues to work within the necessary constraints

Key skills and experience:- Creative Artwork Officer - Leeds, West Yorkshire
  • At least 12 months' proven experience of creating artwork to a high standard in a professional environment for print and digital use, backed by portfolio evidence
  • Experience of creating finished artwork for print within tight deadlines
  • Proven ability to work with a high level of attention to detail working within brand / style guidelines
  • A basic understanding of litho print production processes and digital publishing requirements
    • Experience in the use of Adobe creative software - Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign - preferably on Mac OS X
    • An understanding of current practice in design for print and digital media
    • An ability to use Dreamweaver, HTML and CSS
      • Able to travel - the job will entail occasional travelling, for example to visit a printer or other supplier.
