Job Role:

Our Client is the UK's leading waste-to-energy biodiesel producer with operations in Scotland and North West England and has always been privately owned. Their main plant, near Motherwell in Scotland, started production in 2005. Following significant investment to facilitate growth and development, a number of facilities are being built in the Stanlow area. The Company specialises in the production and supply of high grade, sustainable diesel made from waste fats and oils deliberately excluding any raw materials that could also be used for food or feed.

They are currently looking to recruit for a Safety, Health & Environmental Coordinator who will be reporting to the Head of H&S, responsibility for ensuring Safety, Health and Environmental compliance on site, driving improvements where necessary and delivering H&S best practice.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Operational Activities

• Take responsibility for the upkeep of a fully compliant Safety, Health and Environmental system on site
• Take leadership in ensuring all tasks have appropriate Risk assessments/ Method statements and thus safe systems of work
• Develop a training plan and ensure that all training (in house/ external) covering H&S is completed for all the required staff
• Act as lead contact on site for regulatory authorities e.g. HSE
• Track and report on all SHE statistics
• Drive SHE improvements in line with Head of H&S
• Develop action plans for Safety, Health and Environment improvement on site
• Support the business as required and as directed dependant on the SHE priorities

Health and Safety

• Ensure a thorough knowledge of your Health & Safety responsibilities.
• Always wear Personal Protective Equipment as required. Take responsibility for your own PPE ensuring appropriate storage and care.
• Always strive to work in a manner safe to yourself and others and report any hazards immediately.
• Ensure all staff and visitors operates in compliance with Safety regulations
• Full responsibility for the safety of team members
• Actively participate in addressing Safety, Health and Environmental issues affecting the production areas, ensuring the relevant S, H&E checks are carried out.
• Full knowledge of the Plant Emergency Procedures and associated responses are required

Qualifications/ Knowledge & Experience

Qualifications

• Advanced H&S qualification e.g. NEBOSH
• Environmental experience or qualification would be desirable

Specific Knowledge, Experience & Skills

• Familiar with H&S system e.g. SHG65 and environmental systems e.g. ISO 14001
• Experience of working in a Health and Safety role within a production environment
• Experienced in dealing with external regulatory bodies e.g. HSE
