Assistant Support Accountant (customer service)
Salary is GBP20k - GBP25k depending on experience
FreeAgent is one of the leading online accounting platforms in the UK with over 50,000 customers and continued fast growth. We're on a mission to democratise accounting for small businesses across the world! Our app is loved by tens of thousands of people worldwide, and it's a great opportunity to be a part of something that makes a real difference.
We love providing our customers with the best possible support, and to help us do this we're expanding our Support team.
The Role
If you're a clear and confident communicator who really enjoys going that extra mile to help people, we'd like to hear from you. Ideally, you will either be a qualified bookkeeper, qualified to AAT level or be studying towards an accounting qualification such as CIMA. However, if you don't hold a formal accounting qualification, but have the relevant skills and experience for this role, we'd still like to hear from you.
As Assistant Support Accountant, you'll help and support FreeAgent's existing customers, as well as give potential customers the information they need to decide if it's the right software for them.
You'd be helping users by:
providing front-line support via phone, email, and online chat, and responding accurately, promptly and fully to customer queries
providing training to customers by way of outbound calls, both to people who are currently at free trial stage and to subscribers who request further training
proactively contacting users to see if they need help
helping people who are interested in the product, but need more information to decide if it's right for them
assisting with product planning and with testing of new features or upgrades to existing functionality
Over time, we envisage that you will also build up the skills and confidence to deliver webinars and seminars to our customers.
Requirements
You should:
be prepared to go the extra mile and have a real passion to help people
have experience in providing excellent customer service
have excellent listening skills
possess excellent spoken and written communication skills; in particular, be able to explain accounting concepts to both our customers and to the FreeAgent technical team in clear, plain English
be qualified to AAT level, be a qualified bookkeeper, be studying towards an accounting qualification such as CIMA, or be qualified by experience
be highly computer-literate and web-savvy, understanding that online engagement is crucial to the success of any business
have experience of working with small businesses, possess a clear understanding of their issues, and have a keen interest in how the right financial software can help them
have experience of using a variety of bookkeeping and accounting software packages
In addition, a good understanding of payroll, VAT and Self Assessment would be advantageous.
Work environment
This is a full time permanent position, working from our smart office in the West End of Edinburgh, convenient for Haymarket station and airport links.
We encourage continual self-development and have access to a generous training budget. We hold bi-annual company hack days. We work smarter, not harder, and try to have fun doing it!
We believe in a healthy work-life balance and we're a sociable bunch so there's always something happening outside of work too. In the office you'll be provided with the best kit including top-of-the-line Apple computers, Herman Miller desks and comfy Aeron chairs. We sit down together for catered lunches every Friday, and a selection of beers, wine, soft drinks, cake and healthy snacks pretty much all the time.
Perks of the job
33 days annual leave, including public holidays, increasing year on year
Family friendly policies
Childcare vouchers
Professional development and training
Contributory Pension
Private Health Insurance
Group Life Assurance
Income Protection
Cycle to Work scheme
