Trainee / Junior Fabricator - MIG & TIG Welding - Food Processing Equipment

The Company:

We are a family owned business with a long history in the Poultry industry. Our strength is extensive knowledge of and expertise in Meyn and their products, which enables us to provide excellent technical support and advice to our customers as a leading provider of spare parts, servicing, installations and machine overhauls. Our unequivocal goal is to keep plants running with minimal disruptions by providing quick and efficient service.

The Role:

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the main responsibilities of the role are:


+ Interpret manufacturing drawings, technical instructions and written specifications 
+ Weld and join all components using MIG Welding and TIG Welding techniques, to drawing requirements 
+ Accurately Notch, Punch, Cut and Bend materials to drawing requirements
+ Assembly of components to drawing requirements
+ Maintain equipment and tooling and calibrate it appropriately on a daily basis
+ Conduct machining operations as required i.e. using the mill, lathe, pillar drill etc.
+ Take delivery of engineering materials as and when required
+ Deliver finished engineering products to a high quality
+ Follow all health, safety and environmental procedures and regulations, maintain a safe, clean and tidy work area

Skills/Competencies:

+ MIG and TIG welding
+ Knowledge of fabricating processes ie use of guillotine and press brake, machining is desirable
+ GCSE Maths or equivalent
+ Knowledge and experience of Health and Safety, in particular food hygiene
+ Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
+ Manual Handling experience.
+ Attention to detail 
+ Ability to problem solve
+ Excellent communication skills
+ Strong team working skills
+ Effective time management skills
+ Strong customer service skills with a focus on quality
