Overview
AlphaPlus’s bookkeeper will work within the finance team. As a line report to the management accountant, the post holder will provide high quality financial administrative support to all functions within the organisation. The post holder will also be responsible for payments relating to the company property, such as utility bills and property-related contractors.
Key purpose of the job
To set up and maintain financial records and transactions including accounts, purchases, sales and payments.
Typical responsibilities
- Day to day maintenance of Deltek Maconomy accounts system
- Setting up and maintaining customer accounts
- Setting up and maintaining vendor accounts – vendors, associates and employees
- Processing and paying vendor invoices, send remittances
- Approving draft customer invoices before printing and sending
- Processing customer payments
- Setting up BACs payments
- Running VAT reports and submitting related information to HMRC online
- Processing VAT payment
- Paying HMRC PAYE and NI contributions
- Managing accounts and contracts relating to utilities and maintenance of the property
- Managing petty cash
- Approving Director absence requests
- Acting in secretarial role on Deltek to approve PO nos, etc
- Liaising with project managers about all vendor invoices
- Uploading insurance documents to SharePoint
- Reporting to the Director of Finance
- Reconciling bank accounts
- Collecting salary data and sending to the accountant at month end
- Inputting salary data to Deltek
- Paying salaries and expenses
- Inputting salary info to NEST Pensions website and pay pensions
- Paying Director pensions
- Liaising with Director of HR on HR matters
- Sending paperwork to accountant at financial year end

Qualifications and Professional/ technical competencies

- Demonstrably high standard of computer literacy especially Microsoft Office and database systems Familiarity with accounting software A good first degree in finance, accounting, economics or business administration A recognised bookkeeping qualification
