Maths & IT Lead Tutor
Salary £28,715 - £35,288 per annum
37.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per annum
Fircroft is a residential college occupying a former Cadbury family home, set in six acres of beautiful grounds in Selly Oak, Birmingham. We were originally founded to provide educational opportunities for some of the most disadvantaged and excluded members of society. One hundred years on from the birth of Fircroft College, its mission of 'social justice' is more relevant than ever. Fircroft is a thriving and ambitious College with a vast and diverse community of learners and a strong ethos.
Fircroft is currently in an exciting phase of improvement and development, we are now in a position to appoint a Maths & IT Lead Tutor to plan and teach on agreed programmes and to lead development and practice in relation to Maths and IT.
As a member of the Education Team, you will contribute to the development of our curriculum. You will be required to meet the targets and criteria set by the college for Outstanding teaching, learning and assessment. As part of the role, you will collaborate with staff across the college to ensure an excellent learner experience and progression and will participate fully in the college's quality improvement activity, including moderation and learning walks.
To be considered for this role you must hold an appropriate degree or professional qualifications in a relevant subject, together with a recognised teaching qualification and/or Level 5-7 subject specialism. You will have the ability to teach Maths and IT at different levels across the college and will also be able to demonstrate a track record of curriculum innovation and materials development. Ideally, you will also have past experience of community learning and RARPA. You will have a personal commitment to reflection and CPD.
The right person will be someone who enjoys working at a fast pace with a variety of different tasks, who is self-managed with a strong work ethic, who has a positive outlook and a 'can do' attitude and is a completer / finisher.
