Controls Engineer
* GBP30,000 - GBP40,000
* 25 days leave + 8 Bank Holidays
* 39-hour week - 8am-4:30pm Mon-Thur and 3:30pm finish on Fridays
* 3% matched pension
Location: Commutable from Northamptonshire, Market Harborough, Oakham, Corby, Stamford, Kettering
This multi-million pound business in experiencing astronomical growth and they have already outstripped their 2016 budget by +GBP4 million, all of which has come from organic sales.
Overall this business has organically grown by a staggering GBP9 million over the past 7 years, which is testament to their product portfolio and outstanding relationships with blue chip clients around the world.
The business designs, manufactures, installs and commissions large metal fabricated mechanical systems and provide turnkey solutions, all designed and manufactured in-house by a dedicated team of specialist Engineers.
As a result of recent growth, my client is looking to recruit an experienced Controls Engineer to join the team on a permanent basis, and to support the on-going growth this business is experiencing.
The role of the Controls Engineer:
* The Controls Engineer will programme PLC's from scratch and to electrically design electrical control panels.
* You will design the control panel using AutoCAD LT.
* Produce schematics and electrical panel layouts / diagrams.
* This is a hands on role therefore, you will build the panel from scratch incorporating all of the electrical components.
* Obtain an FDS (functional design specification) from the Commercial Sales Team & Customer.
* In some cases, you will create the FDS yourself and conduct basic electrical calculations.
* Calculations can include; cable sizing, motor factors and power input / output calculations.
* You will then write and input the PLC code using Siemens PLC code.
* Test and debug the PLC code.
* Install the electrical control panel onto mechanical system and load the PLC code to ensure it works to specification.
* In some cases, you will need to travel to site to make modifications and makes changes to the control panel or PLC code during installation & commissioning phase.
Experience and background:
* Experienced Controls Engineer.
* Must be able to use an electrical design package such as AutoCAD LT or similar.
* Must be able to programme PLC's from scratch, ideally Siemens PLC but not limited to Allen Bradley, Schneider or Rockwell etc.
* Electrical engineering BTEC minimum.
* Self-motivated, meticulous, practical, flexible and keen to learn.
* 17th edition wiring regulations is a massive bonus.
