Job Description
Ensuring that the business is always compliant with the requirements of the agreed quality, health, safety and environmental systems and that the systems are used at all times to record and manage compliance issues throughout the company.
Initiating and enhancing a philosophy of continuous improvements and corrective actions following a deviation or non-conformance

SPECIFIC DUTIES:
1. Reviewing the existing quality system and implementing changes to reflect the needs of the business considering the integration of the management and reporting of quality, health, safety and environmental matters.
2. Efficiently and professionally managing the day-to-day activities of the Inspection Departments
3. Taking the company through an accreditation process for areas of compliance the Board deem to be appropriate which may include (amongst others):-
a. ISO 9000
b. ISO 14001
c. OHSAS 18001
d. Fit 4 Nuclear
e. AS 9100
4. Ensuring that all employees and sub-contractors are aware of the requirements of the QA system and make use of the system at all times
5. Develop quality plans for each job and agree with the customer if appropriate
6. Ensure that adequate measuring and testing equipment is maintained, calibrated and stored correctly and that un-calibrated equipment is marked up or removed from the premises
7. Undertake regular quality audits to ensure that the quality system is being used correctly
8. Where deviations occur, ensure that they are documented correctly and an audited corrective action is implemented promptly
9. Implement training initiatives to ensure employees and sub-contractors are aware of the requirements of the quality system
10. Oversee the build-up of quality related documents in the job files and also provide the customer with quality related documents as required
11. Approve existing and all new suppliers to the company in line within the quality policy and undertake regular audits of their performance
12. Develop and produce agreed statistics relating to the quality performance of the company
13. Assist in the back-charging of suppliers for quality related complaints
14. Maintain a list of the cost of rectification following the discovery of a deviation or non-conformance
15. Assist in the implementation of continuous improvement methods
16. Oversee that the drawings approved have been checked, dimensioned and issued correctly. Also, ensure that the latest drawing is always available on the shop floor
17. Initiate hold points where dimensions and performance can be verified
18. Initiate annual key objectives and measurable KPI's for the performance of quality throughout the company
19. Initiating training procedures to ensure that the statutory obligations requiring the training of employees to perform their duties safely are always in place.
20. Undertaking risk assessment and overseeing the issuing of permits to work together with standard operating procedures throughput the company.
21. Oversee the appointment and training of internal auditors also, agree a schedule for auditing the management procedures of the quality system.
22. Checking and validating material and process certification provided by suppliers and sub-contractors
23. Ensuring that established operational procedures are adhered to and complied with including ISO9001
24. Assisting operators with verifications of in-process component compliance
25. Assessing the allowance being made for heat treatment "Growth" and confirming that, once the component has been heat treated, it can be ground back to finished sizes without compromising the hardening application
26. Assisting in the calibration of measuring equipment when required
27. Understanding the coefficient of expansion of various metals prior to measuring
28. Developing programs for CMM and other measuring equipment capable of measuring and recording dimensions, teeth and hole relationships, consistency of thickness, radii and concentricity
29. Prioratising work to ensure bottlenecks do not occur
30. Advising operators of where final cuts are required on components to achieve drawing compliance
