This IT support consultancy are currently seeking a Technical Support Engineer to join an existing team that is responsible for ensuring that it services achieve high levels of availability and reliability.
As a technical engineer, you will be required to support systems and associated tools which facilitate continuous proactive monitoring of customers systems but also aid in the delivery of software into production. A company vehicle will also be provided to the successful candidate.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Ideal candidate would have at least 5 years support experience with 3 of these years to be as a second line engineer.
- Knowledge of and adherence to Data Centre standards to ensure that training and support is kept to a manageable level.
- To have knowledge of VMware and Vsphere. HyperV experience is not essential but would be preferred.
- To be involved in the testing and design of business continuity plans for customers throughout the UK. A good knowledge of networking and experience with SonicWALL firewalls would be preferred but not essential.
- To be able to attend sites and perform hardware installation and swap outs
- To participate as a member of the support team assigned to resolve incidents emanating from the business via the Service Desk on a second line basis.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
The candidate would need a good standard of education.
Preferred Skills:
- Microsoft systems experience - Windows Server 2008/2012/2016
- VMware / HyperV experience
- Experience with network topologies including firewalls, switches and routers (Essential)
- A detailed understanding of networking both Local Area and Wide Area (Essential)
- Full UK Driving Licence - Clean (Essential)
