Product Designer Position

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly creative Experienced Product Designer (educated to degree level with a specialism in 3D) to work within our successful and expanding Design Team.

The company is the most unique supplier of decorative home lighting in the U.K. Our customers currently include BHS, B&Q, Debenhams and Homebase; the company is a forward-thinking and progressive leader in this industry with promising and exciting plans for the future.

As a Lighting Designer your main responsibilities would be to:

  • have excellent sketching skills that enable you to communicate your designs with factories and customers alike
  • develop new lighting concepts with the design team that complement cutting edge trends
  • be able to quickly generate concept/presentation boards for customers, both by hand and by using Illustrator/Photoshop packages
  • have a good eye for colour, fabrics, pattern and an appreciation of textiles
  • have a basic understanding of Microsoft packages. CAD and Illustrator experience, whilst not essential, would be beneficial
  • work within the development department as a whole, from initial ideas right through to the quotation to customer
  • manage key account development, from briefing to quotation through to sample and pre-production critiques
  • put together ranges from customer trend boards and style
  • arrange product in the showroom for all customer meetings
  • generate pattern work for shades

The Person

This role is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and talented product designer. You will be meticulous in all areas of your work, and be able to demonstrate strong attention to detail whilst at the same time be confident at working within an extremely busy and often changing environment. You will have excellent organisational and effective communication skills, be able to work to very tight deadlines, be self-motivated and able to use your initiative. Ideally, you will have approximately 3 years’ experience in a product related industry. There will be some element of national and international travel within the role.
