My client is a fantastic retail convenience business offering an opportunity for buyers to join their team during an unprecedented period of growth, becoming a part of what will be a 'best in industry' buying team, whilst continuing to develop it's grocery product range across hundreds of UK stores.

Role
To develop and drive category plans which will deliver sales growth whilst meeting company and franchisee profitability targets.
• Develop and deliver an effective category management plan that delivers all key targets including sales, category growth and agreed margin requirements for both wholesale and retail.
• Develop, implement and maintain all Company ways of working including following pricing and promotional strategies in line with company strategies.
• Through collaboration with store planning ensure effective range management and innovation reflecting market and consumer trends.
• Build strong working relationships with Suppliers, demonstrating versatility in negotiating style and the ability to construct joint business plans.
• Negotiate and agree strong Supplier terms including secondary income.
• Monitor all category and supplier performance, understanding customer and consumer response and take action accordingly.
• Ensure margins negotiated operate such that the range and pricing architectures deliver the budgeted percentage and cash margins for Franchisees and Head Office.
• Ensure that range changes including new products, delisted lines, clearance activity and overstocks are executed with careful planning and liaison with stores, Marketing, suppliers and Distribution, ensuring that any information is distributed in a timely manner.
• Support the Brand Support team to enable them with the necessary tools and information to execute the offer to a high standard.
• In conjunction with the Marketing team, develop forward promotional strategies ensuring that all events are properly planned, meeting margin and sales targets and all results are thoroughly analysed.
• Role model excellent customer service and ensure you deal with all Franchisee queries effectively and efficiently.
• Take responsibility to ensure all data and reporting is 100% accurate at all times.
• Communicate effectively so that all relevant parties both internal and external are kept up to date and informed of buying activity
• Continually improve ways of working and processes to maximise efficiency
• To comply with all company policies and procedures including the Bribery Act.
• Any other duties deemed necessary to this role.
Person
Over 5 years' experience within a FMCG category (grocery, impulse, beers, wines or spirits).
Qualified to degree level.
Versatile negotiation skills.
Ability to communicate confidently at all levels.
Well-developed influencing ability
Ability to manage and understand data.
Well-developed Microsoft Office skills
Responds positively to change.
Target driven self-starter
Proactive and self-motivated as well as the ability to work as part of a team
Resilient
Builds positive customer and supplier relationships.
