Our client a successful FMCG manufacturing company are currently seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic experienced Product Manager. Successful candidates with a background in cosmetics, toiletries industry would be advantageous but any FMCG background would be considered imparticulary the food industry

PRODUCT/CATEGORY MANAGER

I. Overview

Co-ordinating all commercial elements of customer relationship with key retail accounts in the Health & Beauty and/or Household Categories, driving both sales and profit/margin performance for portfolio of private label products.

Driving from cradle to grave total product performance from opportunity & concept generation, NPD through to product lifecycle management and on-shelf sales performance.

Broad role with wide spectrum of responsibilities and activity.

II. Specific Areas of Responsibility

Full product Profit & Loss management
product costing, price negotiation & product cost engineering
Sales forecasting and stock management responsibility
Managing the NPD process from cradle to grave;
from concept through to delivery & ongoing range management including promotional activity
Generation, preparation and presentation of new product concepts within the framework of a Category Management approach
product rationales, product positioning, market performance criteria, competitive and gap analysis (requires both creative and analytical skills in identifying new sales/market opportunities), price architecture definition, sales performance analysis and key category performance drivers
Interpretation of design/concept briefs
briefing internal creative team & R&D development team generating new product and range concepts for the private label market
Risk analysis assessment
Critical path management
Copy writing/artwork/repro co-ordination
Supplier briefing including components, fragrances & artwork houses
Daily management of key multiple national account

III. The Successful Candidate will have/be :

Private label OR Branded experience essential
Commercially astute
Creative flair
Good negotiation & extension selling ability relationship management
A can-do attitude
Exceptional communication skills : clear & concise : can present relevant info for key decision makers
Can think outside of the box
Self Starter and performs well under multi-project demands
Works well under pressure and a deadline driven environment
Can work at all levels; from factory floor to senior retail buyers
Ideally degree educated not essential depending on background & experience.
