My client is a leading, industry renowned consultancy with a great opportunity for a GIS specialist with water networks experience to support the project team in achieving its leakage reduction targets by identifying areas for the potential installation of non-revenue Bulk Meters, instructing Thames Water delivery partners to carry out site surveys at specified locations and the digitisation of new assets.
Key aspects include the use of GIS to produce site survey worksheets, tracking the digitisation of new assets, tracking performance for your work-stream against targets, engagement with external stakeholders and escalating risks and issues to the Project Manager. Other elements of the role may include reviews of completed surveys to ensure sufficient data quality is captured to allow decision making to take place with confidence.
Co-location with the Project Team in Reading (Island Road) is a key requirement for the role, and visits to other Thames Water/Contractor offices across the London and Reading area may be required.
- Survey Production:
- Identify potential viable sites for Bulk Meter Areas (BMA) using GIS and defined criteria.
- Using ArcMap, identify all Virtual Customer Access Points (VCAPS) within the BMA to confirm the number of properties within the metered area.
- Create property lists for surveys, including cleansing of data
- Develop survey worksheet and site maps, generate unique survey ID's and issue surveys to the Metering Contractor.
- Digitisation Support:
-Act as the primary interface with the Digitisation Contractor and monitor their workload against forecasts.
- Manage the transfer of asset handover packs between relevant teams, updating and maintaining project trackers on a regular basis.
- Review asset handover pack content, resolving or escalating issues as appropriate to the Project Manager and Metering contractor taking ownership of issues through to satisfactory resolution.
- Act as primary point of contact between the Metering Contactor, TW Project Team and Digitisation Contractor.
- Ensuring any changes to the digitisation process are agreed between stakeholders and documented if required.
-Support other areas of the team as appropriate including but not limited to:
- Survey Reviews
- Handover and Takeover support
- Continuous Improvement: Identification/investigation of ways to improve project deliverables. Discuss with Team/Manager and Implement as necessary.
- Ad hoc requests: Support the Project Manager as required (outcomes will be task dependant).
- Work may require occasional travel to offices in the Reading and London area.
Qualifications Qualifications
- Minimum HNC / HND in a relevant subject. Preferably Degree qualified although not essential.
- Professional level Membership of a relevant institution is an advantage.
Knowledge / Experience
- Proven and demonstrable technical background in Clean Water Networks and Leakage.
- Experience in managing stakeholders and building positive working relationships.
- Proven and demonstrable experience in stakeholder engagement across a range of groups, and building relationships.
- Ability to identify problems and suggest appropriate solutions in a timely manner, taking responsibility for resolution.
Technical / Business Skills / Ability
- Proven and demonstrable experience in using GIS (ArcMap).
- Comprehensive knowledge/understanding of Clean Water Networks and Leakage (specifically Customer Side Leakage).
- Ability to write succinct technical reports (detailed and summary) which can include notional solutions for improvements.
- Ability to develop working relationships with project stakeholders.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills.
- Competent in MS Office.
- Ability to work under own initiative on technical matters and manage their own time.
- Willingness to travel around offices as required
