An Apprentice Network Engineer is sought to join this bespoke software company based in Oldham, Greater Manchester.
The IT apprenticeship is a premium apprenticeship that attracts the very best and brightest, and is a gateway to a fulfilling career in IT. Training is led by an online apprentice training company which is the cost of the training programme is covered by the company. Graduates from the scheme will have a genuine opportunity to progress into full time employment.
The organisation specialises in the design, maintenance and support of bespoke reservation solutions and e-commerce applications for the travel industry, and they are now looking to expand their team.
They're looking for a passionate, intelligent, self-motivated individual to join their internal Systems team. It's a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to start their IT career, or build on their existing experience under the guidance of the Systems Manager.
The Apprentice Network Engineer will play a key role in a highly technical environment, working with the latest versions of Microsoft software, including Windows 10, Windows Server and Office 365.
Title: Apprentice Network Engineer
Location: Oldham, Greater Manchester
Salary: £7,000 - £8,000 per annum
Benefits: Pension contribution, flexible working hours, home working 2 days per month, childcare vouchers, gym membership, emergency "hangover" days off, free drinks, tea, coffee and breakfast, free car parking
Hours: 5 in 7 rota means that the successful candidate must be willing to occasionally work a short day on Saturdays and Sundays, though will be compensated with days off during the week to ensure only 5 days are worked during a 7 day week
The Apprentice Network Engineer will be responsible for the following:
- Maintenance and troubleshooting of the company LAN / WAN infrastructure
- Support and maintenance of our business-critical applications, including Microsoft Exchange and Skype for Business
- Carrying out of daily checks, including monitoring of business-critical backups
- Hardware maintenance, troubleshooting and upgrades
- Software installations and upgrades
- Monitoring of the help desk and responding effectively to our users
- Ensuring compliance with software licensing
- Asset management
The Apprentice Network Engineer is a junior role, so a demonstrable passion for IT and an ability to learn are the most important attributes. However, applicants should be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the following:
- LAN/WAN infrastructure principles
- Virtualisation technologies
- Firewalls and network security principles
- Storage management
- Windows installation / configuration and Microsoft Office
- Office365 administration
- Wireless technology
- User account configuration
- Demonstrable documentation skills
Knowledge of or experience in using Skype for Business, Office 365, Active Directory, Microsoft SQL Server and Wireless & VOIP devices is highly desirable.
