Student Support Worker, Permanent - Full time (37hrs per week)

Are you passionate about helping people grow? If so we have an exciting opportunity for a Student Support Worker to join the Education team within HMYOI Deerbolt. The work is challenging yet highly rewarding with real opportunity to change lives.

The purpose of this role is to ensure, via appropriate assessment, that prospective and existing learners receive relevant and easily understood information regarding learning and skills provision and continuing support. To contribute to a multi-disciplinary approach that seeks to facilitate a smooth transition to the resettlement of the learner into the community.

Key responsibilities are as follows:

  • Provide comprehensive, confidential and impartial information services on educational and training opportunities within the establishment
  • Support learners through initial assessments using a range of activities including computer-based information if appropriate
  • Contribute to the effective allocation of learners to Learning & Skills provision, action planning, learner contracts and the creation of Individual Learning Plans
  • Ensure the safeguarding of learners
  • Ensure that learner records are accurate and maintained in line with data protection and TMC policies.

As a successful candidate you will have:

  • A level 2 qualifications in literacy and numeracy or be willing to work towards, within an agreed timescale
  • Relevant experience of conducting initial assessments and supporting learning of individuals and groups
  • Experience of working with groups of learners with a range of abilities.
  • Experience of successful working in an effective multi-disciplinary team
