Financial Analyst

This Financial Analyst job in Edinburgh is a superb opportunity for a newly or recently qualified accountant (either from audit or from industry/the public sector) looking to move into a commercially focussed role. Our client is a global consultancy business enjoying substantial yet sustainable growth as a result of a number of high profile wins over the past 24 months and the role of Financial Analyst is to work with key client stakeholders, helping them to understand their key business drivers and the real issues which affect them. These are demanding stakeholders who look for reliable and informative management information and the role of Financial Analyst is key in delivering high quality MI to tight deadlines. The Financial Analyst will spend approximately 50% of his/her time on the client??????s premises, forming a strong bond with stakeholders across the business.

As our client is a consultancy business, the Financial Analyst will be responsible (from a finance perspective) for managing several projects (each with their own P&L) at various stages of their lifecycle. Thus, you will review and analyse these P&Ls, offering insight into the key business drivers, and working in tandem with Project Directors to understand any variances against budget/forecast; ensuring costs are reduced/minimised; whilst increasing efficiency and therefore profitability. You??????ll take the lead on monthly review meetings and it will be your responsibility to ensure that your recommendations are enacted. Therefore, you will have well developed communication and influencing skills and be able to give Senior Management the confidence that you can ??????get things done??????. In reality, you??????ll become the ??????go to person?????? for any queries your stakeholders may have, thus acting in a genuine business partner capacity.

In order to be successful in this position, you will be a qualified accountant, most likely looking to move a first or second move upon qualification. You may be a qualified accountant from an audit background looking to work in-house, or you may be coming more from a management accounting background working in a large complex business, looking for a role that stretches you technically and commercially. Regardless of background, you should be robust and tenacious with well-developed excel skills and be able to manipulate and utilise financial models to better aid decision making. Confident and articulate, you will have the gravitas to win the hearts and minds of stakeholders at Exco level, becoming a trusted business advisor.
