Job Overview
The primary responsibility of the product engineer is to create a product design that fulfils a company or client's strategic goals while integrating the needs of marketing, sales and manufacturing departments. They oversee research and development, testing procedures and draft specifications for manufacturing.
What is the Product Engineer expected to do?
*The generation and completion of production drawing suits
*Design of new Backshell and connector product ranges
*Compilation of drawing Bill of Materials, including supply verification
*Investigative support to Design engineering on materials and tooling verification
*Design approval and technical support for junior design engineers
*Design update from legacy CAD data
*Reverse engineering of obsolete product
*Technical support
*Arranging of samples
*Create test program documentation
*Arranging of internal and external test programmes
*General administrative tasks in relation to overall customer and business needs
*Visiting customers worldwide
*Support and evaluation of technical sales documentation
*Project management and review of deadlines
What qualifications and experience is required?
The position will require you to demonstrate the following:
*Degree in mechanical Engineering
*A confident communicator
*Knowledge of MIL spec connector/Backshell design and assembly
*An eagerness to work quickly, reliably and independently
*Appropriate computer literacy consistent with your position as Design Engineer
*Good working knowledge of Solidworks preferable but not essential
