You will be joining the newly created Communications Software Team, which is tasked with development and delivery of Embedded Software for the portfolio of Communications and Networking Products. The team reports to the Director of Customer Technology and is organized into sub-functions for QA, development and release management. This role falls under the QA function

Your Key Responsibilities

Your role will be to Test Network Devices by executing both Manual and Automated tests and providing high visibility output of Results. Conducted in a philosophy of Continuous Improvement of the test team capability through a strong focus on Automation with the ultimate goal of enabling Communications Software team to produce deliverables of the highest quality to competitive cost and timescales.

Test Design & Continuous Improvement




•Provide input into the development of Test Plans & Test Cases to Verify Functional and Non-Functional Quality of Networking Product Firmware.

•Provide input into the development and maintenance of automated solutions for execution and reporting of test cases.

Test Execution




•Manually Execute Test Cases to agreed schedule, recording results and providing data to support Investigations into any test failures.

•Setup, Execute and Monitor Automated test runs.

Test Reporting & Documentation




•Record Test Result output into relevant Test Reports and Log / Update Defect Information into Issue Tracking System.

•Provide testing clarifications and result input into operational meetings where necessary.

•Generate & maintain clear, accessible documentation of test setups and infrastructure, critical procedures, equipment inventories and test plans.

Your Skills

•Good Working Knowledge of Software Release Procedures and Software Defect Tracking Processes.

•Strong End-User / Application Knowledge of Consumer Network Products such as Broadband Routers, Modems, Wireless Access Points, Powerline, NAS Devices, Set Top Box.

•Recent Experience testing software for commercial or consumer technology.

•Proven experience of designing, writing and executing Functional & Non-Functional test cases.

•Experience working within Automated Test environments for embedded software.

•Skilled at configuring and working within Linux & Windows OS Environments.

•Proficient in the usage of Issue / Defect Management Systems (e.g. Jira, TRAC, Bugzilla, Redmine).

Desirable Skills

•Experience with broadband or wireless devices or protocols

•Proficient in the use of Scripting Languages (e.g. Bash, PHP, JavaScript, Perl, Ruby, VB.Net, PowerShell).
