An established and renowned public sector organisation is looking to bring on board a Technical and Capital Accountant on an initial 18 month fixed-term contract in the heart of Glasgow.
The Technical and Capital Accountant is a key part of the financial and accounting team which is responsible for accounts payable, receivable, payroll etc. and is integral in supporting the overall organisation.
You will support the technical accountant in ensuring that systems of financial discipline, integrity and control are maintained to the upmost professional standards. You'll develop and maintain the asset register, ensuring compliance to accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities
The key responsibilities for this position include, but not limited to:
" Maintaining the company asset register, providing challenge and review in all tangible and intangible additions.
" Support the wider organisation with capital accounting requirements, ensuring consistency in the decision making approach.
" Making sure there is alignment with company systems for asset monitoring.
" Ensuring that suitable systems and processes are in place to allow fixed asset statutory and regulatory requirements to be met on time.
" Ensuring there is sufficient technical support in the area of capital accounting, to support the capitalisation process.
" Ensuring that company VAT liability is calculated and submitted within set timescales, supporting review and challenge of VAT process.
" Support the development and implementation of financial systems that support the day-to-day operations
Key Skills and Experience
As the preferred candidate, you'll have experience in the following:
" CCAB qualified with relevant commercial experience.
" Strong technical knowledge of IFRS
" Capital Accounting experience including tangible and intangible capitalisation
" Ability to engage with business and stakeholders on areas of financial specialism, with the ability to lead and influence in this area.
" Strong analytical expertise
" High level of IT literacy including MS Office and relevant financial systems and reporting packages
