Melbreck Technical are working with this leading construction specialist based in Oxfordshire who are expanding their operation by creating a new a larger space for their pre-construction production facility.
This expansion is taking place due to a large increase in sales and turnover and as such they are looking to bolster their operations team and hire a Materials Planner / Buyer to join their business.
Purpose of the role:
To coordinate and manage the end to end planning system for the business, to give visibility of milestones, project relationships, manpower requirements, procurement lead-in, manufacturing and site activities.
Using prompts from the planning system together with detailed information from the operational parts of the business, to ensure timely buying investigations and decision making/ordering in line with project requirements. In addition, for Turnkey projects, procurement of large/high value items such as bathrooms and kitchens will be required.
The role spans from high level macro planning, supporting business decision making, to detailed scheduling of design, manufacture, procurement and construction stages.
Initially the role will be skewed towards planning and procurement for construction. However with a new workshop facility due to come online in September 2017, the role will expand to include manufacturing.
Key Accountabilities:
• Review and streamline the existing planning and buying processes to achieve improved integration and reliability.
• Maintain and manage the overview planning system using paper and electronic systems.
• Develop and maintain more detailed planning stages and tracking systems to give visibility to internal and external stakeholders.
• Work closely with the operational parts of the business and the supply chain to ensure delivery of project stages in line with agreed or contracted stages.
• Engage with the supply chain to confirm or establish new relationships for supply of services, products and materials.
• Introduce and manage systems to ensure sufficient lead-in for procurement of non-standard products or services.
• Attend weekly operational meetings to track and prompt progress.
• Engage with supply chain to set-up accounts, payment arrangements, service levels and call-off timescales.
• Ensure compliance with the Quality Management System at all times, keeping paper and electronic documentation, records and filing up to date.
• Operate with the highest regard to Health & Safety ensuring compliance with the Health & Safety policy.
