Location - Flexible within Central England35 Hours per weekContract type: PermanentSalary: Circa GBP 50,000About the roleThis is an exciting opportunity to use your senior management experience to play a pivotal role in directing, delivering and developing the British Red Cross independent living and crisis response services to ensure we continue to make a difference to the lives of people in crisis in central England.The independent living and crisis response services support people who are in the space between hospital and home and responds to their needs accordingly, helping them to regain or retain their independence following a crisis.As the area director, you will be responsible for an annual budget of GBP 2-3 million and will oversee the direction of the service strategy, leading and representing service development initiatives to ensure services are locally/regionally tailored and consistently delivered. This is a key role in the national management team and will oversee adherence to all business processes and procedures (e.g. BRM, information governance and quality assurance).About the organisationThe British Red Cross helps millions of people in the UK and around the world to prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies, disasters and conflicts. Our volunteers and staff help people in crisis to live independently by providing support at home, mobility aids and transport. We refuse to ignore people in crisisAbout the teamYou will also be responsible for developing a team of well-trained volunteers and staff in your area and delivering growth in service outputs year on year. In support of the head of crisis response, you will also take a lead role in your area during periods of surge activity, coordinating the collective British Red Cross during peak periods of activity, including emergencies.In support of the Head of Crisis Response, they will take the lead role in their area during periods of surge activity, coordinating the collective British Red Cross response on behalf of the area during peak periods of activity, including emergencies (e.g. how Independent Living & Crisis Respone and Event First Aid will work together to respond to emergencies within an area).About the personTo be successful in this role you will need strong operational management experience, as well as experience of managing and operating to contracted arrangements and achieving business growth.
