Servest Catering division are experts at crafting award-winning, great tasting food that is responsibly sourced and catered to suit our clients' business and budgets. We operate outstanding catering facilities across the UK in a broad spectrum of settings, from schools to staff canteens, coffee bars to restaurants and the whole function is supported by our dedicated, energetic and rapidly growing Catering Finance team based from our offices on the western fringes of Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk.

Crucial to ensuring the smooth running of the accounting for our extensive network of catering outlets across the UK, you will be responsible for the daily maintenance of the purchase ledger function, ensuring all documents received are dealt with in a timely manner. This role will suit an individual with great customer service and relationship-building skills. A high standard of professionalism and confidentiality will be required.

This role is ideal for an enthusiastic team player who is looking to take the next step towards a career in Finance.

The nature of the role demands that the most suitable candidates will possess an excellent telephone manner and will be adept at building rapport with customers; will demonstrate tact and diplomacy and have the ability to deal with challenges in a confident and professional manner. Attention to detail, high productivity and the ability to prioritise and work to tight deadlines are also vital personal attributes essential to being successful in this role. In order to engage in effective correspondence with our suppliers, you will also possess high levels of literacy and written English.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Processing all documents received by the team and recording them accurately
  • Being the first point of contact for telephone and email queries
  • Ensuring supplier statements are reconciled on a timely basis
  • Issuing remittance advice to suppliers
  • Liaising with suppliers to ensure queries are resolved
  • Working closely with our Bookwork team to ensure accurate entry of all invoices
  • Providing assistance for staff queries

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • A minimum of 4 GCSE's, or equivalent, at grade C and above, including Mathematics and English is highly desirable
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Knowledge of SAGE accounts is desirable, but not essential
  • Ability to consistently meet tight deadlines
  • Customer-focused, you will provide our customers with a quality service and will demonstrate flexibility to adapt as priorities change
  • High standards of integrity, confidentiality and discretion
  • Outstanding communication skills – You will be adept at forging longstanding, effective relationships with suppliers and stakeholders across the business
  • Good levels of literacy and numeracy


Our welcoming Catering Finance team deliver outstanding support to our business and customers throughout the week, Monday to Friday, between the hours of 09:00-17:30, however, flexibility to meet the needs of our business is essential.

This role is offered on a fixed-term basis for 6 months due to the increase in workload following a significant catering acquisition and will support us with the integration of the two finance functions.
