Circa £25,000 dependent upon experience

The Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT) is a conservation charity that protects wetlands for wildlife and people. For 70 years we have been pioneers in saving threatened wetland wildlife across the globe and are experts in wetland management and creation. We work with communities living among some of the most vulnerable wetlands in the world, providing leadership and influence to create a sustainable future for our wetlands, their wildlife and the people who depend upon them. We believe that showing people first-hand how extraordinary wetlands are can ignite their passion to help us conserve them, so we provide amazing experiences at our unique UK wetland centres for over one million visitors every year.

WWT Slimbridge Wetland Centre is a thriving visitor attraction within easy reach of Gloucester and Bristol, attracting a wide range of visitors from families to expert birders.

We now have a career opportunity for an outstanding Head Chef, responsible for the daily operation and management of the kitchen - you will be an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual with a passion for delivering amazing food and excellent customer service.  You'll co-ordinate and motivate a team of kitchen staff, be full of bright ideas and commercial capabilities, you'll make sure we're smashing targets and generating profit as every penny goes back into supporting our conservation work. Financially astute with great attention to detail, you will have a proven track record of working to tight KPIs with creativity and enthusiasm. Shifts are allocated fairly to include weekend work on a rota basis; most shifts are daytime hours, with occasional evening events.

Your experience will ideally have been gained within a visitor attraction or similar environment and you are looking to become part of something amazing.

In return for your hard work and dedication you'll enjoy a wide range of benefits including:

  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays increasing to 30 days after 5 years' service
  • Contributory pension scheme (conditions apply)
  • Life assurance
  • Free parking
  • Child care voucher scheme
  • Free entry to all our centres
