Due to retirement of a Senior Design Engineer, and excellent opportunity has arisen to join our client, a specialist manufacturer of food production equipment. You will join the Innovation and New Product Development team in a highly varied design engineering role that will challenge multiple areas of your engineering capability.
The role will see you spend the majority of your time in the office, working with SolidWorks and tackling the full range of design problems. You will be creating equipment that has moving parts, involving motors, pneumatics, hydraulics, conveyors, sheet metal and more.
You will also get out on to the shop floor on regular occasions, checking the builds of your designs, and problem solving anything that comes up in that stage. You will also, on occasion, be given the opportunity to travel on site and assist with the installations of the machinery in a technical advisory capacity.
In addition to ensuring your designs are operational, you will be responsible for creating them within industry requirements and regulations. As such experience of CE Directives would greatly beneficial, as would an understanding of food industry hygiene requirements, and a proven ability to accurately select the correct materials depending on the environment the equipment will face.
This is a particularly complex engineering role that requires a lot of understanding of a variety of complex ideas. As such whilst we need someone who can hit the ground running, we also expect the person to be willing to take on new information and learn new things. As such, given the length of time it takes for someone to become an expert, we require someone who can demonstrate longevity in their roles. The right person will be rewarded with strong training, and a very competitive remuneration package.
Requirements for application:
* Experience in design engineering (including 3D CAD software)
* Either an apprentice trained background, or a higher education level qualification. Applications from people with significant experience though are welcomed.
* An understanding of a variety of engineering ideas, such as material selection, pneumatics, hydraulics, moving parts, power parts etc etc
* Some understanding of directives (such as CE directives) would be beneficial but not required
* It would also be beneficial to have an appreciation of food manufacturing equipment / the food industry, but this is not required.
