The Role:
Support and Lead Design Development
Reporting directly to the EDS project leader
Provide EDS Engineering support during the project concept phase
Assist and advise on with 3D harness routing as best suits architecture (Mains/engine/panels)
Define C/O harness ducts / channels
Develop fusing layout based on donor strategy
Help provide data to support PDS / Bid specs
Help Define EDS changes
Provide technical Support for simulators and prototypes
Support concept/design reviews
Help define vehicle harness BOM
Help understand and manipulate donor information Schalplans/EB cable/KAB plans/L Dorado drawings.
Produce EDS information to support project management
Delivery of projects
Responsible for planning and managing own project related activities within the project timing.
Reporting of project status for area of responsibility in project team, including understanding of cross functional working with other areas of the business
Help deliver EDS programme which is capable of meeting the vehicle specifications detailed in the relevant PDB or TCD.
Knowledge of cost of parts and systems, with an understanding of value engineering.
Problem Solving
Ability to solve complex engineering and design related problems.
Analysis and management of design related concerns to identify the root cause.
Collection and management of data and analysis to produce reports as appropriate.
Developing and Maintaining Specialist knowledge
Responsible for keeping the functional area uptodate with technology in area of responsibility.
Capture learning from previous experience.
Working with Group partners to keep up to date with latest Group developments.
Ability to work within a team
Able to work effectively in the cross functional team. Able to achieve required performance from a team for which there is no organisational line responsibility.
Demonstrable knowledge of:
Electrical/electronic circuit theory
Electromagnetic compatibility
Harness and Fusebox design, development and manufacturing
Writing specifications for products and processes
Project Management
System reliability
System Safety
Packaging in a 3D modelling environment
Material performance and selection criteria for automotive applications
Automotive physical and electrical environments
Risk assessment
DFMEA
TS 16949 Quality Management
Microsoft Office toolset
Prepared to travel to suppliers and Group companies for technical meetings, audits, reviews etc.
Selfmotivated and able to work individually or within the team
