Group Financial Controller

This newly created Group Financial Controller opportunity represents an outstanding career opportunity for an experienced, qualified finance leader to gain the skills required to step up into a Director of Finance role. Working for a world leading, Cambridge based company with an enviable reputation for delivering excellence, this is a high profile, highly influential position and will be required to provide high level support to the current FD. As senior management lead for the finance function, reporting to the Finance Director, this role is responsible for leading the overall activities of the finance function which comprises 60 staff in total. Operating within a matrix structure, the role encompasses all of the responsibilities associated with a senior level Financial Controller position including the following:- Leadership and functional oversight of five high calibre divisional Heads of Finance and their teams.- Full responsibility and accountability for developing, maintaining and monitoring compliance of group wide financial policies, procedures and governance structures.- Managing the activities of the Core finance team which comprises Financial Reporting, Governance and Compliance, Business Partnering and Shared Service AP/AR teams.- Developing and maintaining succession planning, talent mapping and the development of team members.- Acting as the focal point for all ongoing finance business system improvement and development projects.- Deputising for the Finance Director when required in all group-wide business approval and review meetings. The successful applicant will be a fully qualified accountant with proven senior management experience in the following areas:- A demonstrable track record in managing high performing finance teams displaying exceptional communication and leadership skills at either Finance Director or Senior Financial Controller level. - A proven ability in co-ordinating, maintaining and improving a group wide accounting policy and control environment- Experience in building and enhancing financial reporting which adds value and assists the business in achieving it operational goals by facilitating effective management decision making.Previous experience of operating at Finance Director level is not essential, however interested applicants will be required to display FD potential and to be able to realise this potential within 12 months. Exposure to a large, matrix structured manufacturing or engineering environment would beneficial.
