My client is currently looking to recruit an Environmental Manager to join their team in Preston.
The ideal candidate will give support and guidance to enable the environment management system to be integrated into the route teams to deliver legislative compliance.
Duties for this role will include:
* Undertaking Environmental Appraisals of projects within the development phase, including obtaining necessary consents and licences (not ecological).
* Manage the waste recording and reporting of contractors and projects.
* Manage the water assessment, sampling, quality testing and potential consenting of discharges from drainage works, this may include discussions with water utilities.
* Data analysis, as well as assisting with preparing reports to a high technical standard and within deadlines.
* Managing the appropriate input of environmental information from Assessment stage, preparation of tender, reviewing contractors Environmental Management Plans and auditing whilst projects are being executed on site.
Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Essential
* Minimum 5 year's environmental appraisal/assessment experience.
* A relevant degree in Environmental Assessment, Environmental Science or Environmental Management.
* Good understanding of UK and European environmental legislation and best practice guidance experience
* Proven experience in undertaking Environmental Appraisals for de-vegetation and drainage projects that will be under Permitted Development.
* Have significant experience of managing environmental issues through development, tender stage and on site auditing.
* Background in water quality, waste management, hydrological/flood risk would be an advantage.
* Good interpersonal, influencing, communication and organisation skills
* Task orientated team player
* Strong report writing skills
Desirable
* Knowledge of operational railway environment
* Full/associate/graduate membership of IEMA
* Experience of writing environment tender specifications and working with multi-disciplinary teams
* Competent with Microsoft Office
* Full UK driving licence
