Job Role:

A permanent vacancy has arisen to support our Client's recently restructured Human Resources Department. The Fire & Rescue Service is in the business of protecting people and property, it is vital that they meet their current and future Service needs.

The successful candidates will ensure they continue to set the highest standards across their HR advice operations, ensuring their managers are provided with the ability to provide a service to their communities.

With a background as an HR Advisor/Manager, you will have a strong knowledge in Employee Relations and be open to getting involved in Recruitment and Selection processes. Additionally, you will have exceptional verbal and written communication skills and the confidence to gain credibility and respect from senior stakeholders.

You will be responsible for the development and delivery of the Resourcing, Reward and Employee Relations elements of the Human Resource Section by delivering the outcomes contained within the Services' Improvement Plans. You will lead a team of HR Advisors to provide a comprehensive, professional advisory service to managers and employees across the Service on such matters as Conditions of Service, Performance Management, Employment legislation and Onboarding processes to ensure compliance.

You will be required to prepare and analyse management information relating to People performance indicators including workforce profiles and planning.

The post is conditioned to the Scheme of Conditions of Service for NJC Local Government Services (Green Book). Benefits include flexitime scheme, 24 days' annual leave (29 days after 5 years' continuous service), Local Government Pension Scheme and optional additional benefits from Everybody Benefits Scheme including Child Care Vouchers and Cycle to work.

Pension

The successful applicant will be entitled to become a member of the Local Government Pension Scheme.

It has been agreed that the Fire & Rescue Service will apply abatement to any role to which a retiree from the Firefighters' Pensions Scheme is appointed following widening of the discretions available to Fire and Rescue Authorities.

Abatement is the process of reducing or stopping a member's pension if a member retires and then returns to work in the public sector. Government policy is that pension payments should be abated where a member is reemployed in the public sector and receives a pension and salary which exceeds their earnings before retirement.

Anyone in the Local Government Pension Scheme is subject to the rules on abatement if they are re-employed and in receipt of a pension.
