An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Transport Manager to join an expanding company based in Oldham.

The company is one of the leading suppliers of plant equipment in the construction industry.  The company has received awards and is recognised for their first rate customer service, exceptional growth and innovative technology in the plant and equipment industry.  They are passionate about delivering great service for their large customer portfolio across the UK and Europe. 

As a Transport Manager your duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Planning of driver and vehicle resource to achieve delivery/collection times.
  • Phoning Customers and third party transport to coordinate delivery and collection
  • Administration for all relevant Licenses and Checks for the company’s fleet of Vehicles
  • Keeping up to date with Vehicle Service Records and Road Tax requirements
  • Monitor and control the FORS accreditation, with the potential to work towards a higher accreditation
  • To keep Drivers updated on H&S requirements.
  • To maintain Tachograph compliance
  • To coordinate and sign off Drivers hours in line with the Working Time Directive
  • To make sure all Drivers CPC is up to date
  • To coordinate all Drivers meetings and Training.
  • Check vehicle loading leaving Depot and sites
  • Co-ordinate completion of daily fuel and vehicle checks
  • Driving where needed.  (This may include evening and weekend work)
  • O Licence holder for Depot
  • Driving cover when necessary
  • Coordinate and managing the dispatch function.

An ideal Transport Manager will have the following skills and qualifications:

  • Transport Manager experience
  • Transport Manager CPC (Road Haulage)
  • Previous work experience in a commercial environment
  • Planning and Organisation Skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Highly numerate
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills to manage multiple priorities
  • Have knowledge of Working Time Directive and Road Transport Directive
  • Driving Experience
  • Need to hold a clean, current HGV driving license, a digital tachograph card, completed driver CPC
  • Commercial Awareness
  • Resilient
  • Good level of IT competence

Your working hours will be Monday – Friday 8.30am – 5.30pm.

In return for this you will receive a salary of £25,000 - £30,000 per annum, Plus:

  • 20 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays
  • 3%/3% Employer/Employee Contribution Pension Scheme
